Quick post. Happy to note my article about the Sony DSC-R1 SLR was well received, and by ‘well received’ I mean ‘noted’, ‘discussed’ and ‘critiqued’, which may or may not also mean that I was told I was wrong.
Let me put it this way. Imo, if someone takes time to tell you ‘dude, check out the Canon so and so model, better daw than the Sony’, I consider that ‘well-received’, because 1. they read it, and 2. they formed an opinion based on it. Agreeing with what I said is beside the point really. The point is to make people lend an interested ear.
Of course one may also discern from this the fact that I’m desperate for any feedback whatsoever, and consider even scathing remarks as points to my favor. You may also conclude that I so desperately want so much for at least one, any one of my articles to land in Inq7’s most read articles at least one time (please! Oh God please!), at which point I will vehemently disagree. Ahem.
But at any rate, the point is, uhmmm.. well, there isn’t any. Just wanted to say how happy I am the article was ‘well-received’ :). (I actually haven’t seen the print version yet.)
Oh and on the subject of writing, notice if you will the sad number of ‘hits’ my basketball post about Isiah Thomas receives compared to tech posts, which leads me to conclude that my readers are saying the following things: a. NO ONE WANTS TO READ ABOUT YOUR BASKETBALL OPINIONS, BROTHER! and b. GEEKS AREN’T SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT BALL, or any other derivations one may arrive at from the two.
So what the hey, if it’s gadgets you want, here’s what I’m reviewing now:

this here the latest point and shoot W-series from Sony, the DSC-W50, which if you’ll notice from it’s website (click the link), has an expected shipping date on or before March 17, 2006, so it’s very new.

It’s got 6.0 megapixels, a Carl Zeiss lens (3X Optical Zoom), 32 MB Internal Memory, a 2.52 LCD Screen and quite notable here: a Simple, easy-to-use on-screen Function Guide, which makes it perfect for newbies and manly-men like me who can’t be bothered to read the “Read Me First” Manuals. Grunt.

One of my fave things to do is take pics of cars, such as this circa 60’s VW Bus in Ortigas, which I had an exact replica toy of when I was a kid, except mine was orange. Isn’t it soooo purrty?

The spartan interior is a throwback to yesteryear, when all you needed was a speedometer, fuel gauge, steering wheel, pedals and shiftknob. And maybe something to fan yourself with, as it has no a/c.

I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want.

Also took a pic of my neighbor’s VW, which is a work in progress but just as cute.

Speaking of cute things, here’s the Sony-Ericsson W550i, which I’m planning to review and submit directly after this blog entry, the key word being ‘planning’.

I also took shots of my cooking, which is a blatant attempt to show off and is about as obvious as I can get, but I take credit for anyway, given my thick skinned nature. Today’s menu is Sweet n Sour pork.

Marinade chopped pork in salt, sugar and half an egg. Cover with flour and deep-fry, set aside. Stir-fry pineapple chunks, sliced green pepper and sweet n sour mix. Add pork, stir in low heat, add quartered mid size onion and cover till served. Voila.
Anyway, read the SE W550i review next Wednesday, and get me in that most read list, educate yourself. Seriously, I like that phone and its a steal at P15k.
The DSC-W50 review will come out, oh around 4 weeks from now more or less, as I’ve two other gadget reviews and a Globe event I’ve yet to submit.
And now that I’ve written about another gadget, I can post again about my thoughts about the Kobe lead U.S. Basketball team, my opinion on Orlando forward Dwight Howard, and David Stern. Once again, all is right in the world.
