Things I have to do with Mobile Exchange.
- Organize the posts: At the moment I just slap on post after gadget post, with no real rhyme or reason. This is primarily because many of the Press Releases I’ve got are somewhat incomplete, so I can’t do a “Sony Ericsson’s lineup for 2006” series of posts, or a “Business Phones” post, featuring all the business phones from all major brands. I’ve been asking for all the press releases from every PR I’ve ever dealt with, but what’s holding me back is that sometimes I’m a little shy when I tell them it’s not for one of the traditional publications I write for, which leads me to #2:
- Get a grip. Mobex is important. Just as important as the ‘traditional’ print mags and yes, big old PDI. It’s the only local web publication that does what it does, so be not afraid in asking help from the PRs. It’s their job anyway, and besides, those precious hi-res pics and releases which nobody reads are just sitting around in their offices wasting away. Get with the program already. Do it. And stop talking to yourself. It’s embarrassing.
I want MobEx to be the topmost primary location for local cellphone and mobile gadget news, reviews and general info. A site that answers those niggling questions like
- What’s the ‘i’ for in the model number ‘XXXi’?
- What makes it so different from model ‘XXX’?
- How much is the price difference, and is it worth it?
- How many models does Nokia have out in the market at the moment?
- How about Sony Ericsson and Samsung?
- I’m a business person, what are the models targetted towards me from all those mentioned brands?
- When was model XXAZ launched?
- How often does Samsung launch a model, and how ‘latest’ is it?
- I like model E123i, where’s the cheapest place that I can but it from?
- What’s the difference between buying it from a tiangge and a more expensive retail store?
- I wanna risk buying it from a tiangge. Is it relatively reliable for me not to need a warranty?
- How many models from each brand has a 2mb cam?
- Which dealers are recommended by the distributor / manufacturer?
- Is it cheaper if I buy from the manufacturer – store?
So forth and so on. Do you know any publication print or online that does so? If online, do you know one that’s just for the local market? There aren’t any, right?!? I told you! So get going! Do it! And stop talking to yourself!
