today was supposed to be Google day

I was supposed to write 2,500 to 3000 words about Google, which by two accounts I can think of, is a difficult task. 1.) Google just launched Google Talk and Google Desktop, both of which are supposedly momentous events in Internet history, Google being who they are and Instant Messengers / VOIP being what it is. I therefore still have a lot of thoughts to go over with in respect to that, and my mind is pretty much scattered today. 2.) Like I said, my mind is pretty much scattered today, and every other hour my itchy trigger finger keeps clicking the Grand Theft Auto icon, and play it for awhile. I can’t explain it. One second I’m clicking the browser to read up on Google history and soak up the Google company blog, and the next second I’m studying how to make Carl Johnson fire a Tec-9 submachine gun from a 600cc motorcycle, to effectively off a bad guy fleeing in a Dodge Viper, in the middle of the city. Tsk tsk.

In addition to that, other interesting events transpired, one of which is actually Google related, with Inq7 reporting on Google looking for a few Filipino good men/women. Basically, the article goes:

Google indicated that the ideal candidate should have demonstrated leadership in marketing, sales or general management for an Internet or technology company and/or management consulting, and have graduated at or near the top of their class from a leading graduate academic institution. It prefers applicants with MBA degrees.

By such, I suppose the position is a business or marketing inclined one, as opposed to technological. At any rate, I can’t help wondering how an MBA can help someone spread the Gospel Of Google, other than indicate that the person is a hardworker. For the most part, I’ve not really been impressed by MBA-ers, but that’s just me mouthing off. It might be a.) I don’t know that many folks with MBAs, b.) I don’t know enough about the job entailed and maybe a MBA would be perfect for it, or likely c.) I don’t have an MBA and am therefore unqualified, and so since I can’t have it, I don’t want anyone else to! So there.

So anyway (nope this post isn’t over yet), it’s 5:20PM and although I decided to give CJ’s trigger finger a rest and work on the Google article, I happened to decide to check on my editor’s email to read it over, and realized they’re expecting it not today, like initially planned, but on Monday or Tuesday, leaving me the weekend to do it.

And now, I’m contemplating getting into my workout gear and head out to San Juan to play ball with my dudes.

Hmm.

Ball up it is. Have a nice weekend all.
