First of Nine Articles Out Today

Quick post to note the articles came out, since I still havent gotten round to making my Articles page. See that “Articles” link on top of my blog? Yup, dead link city.

Anyway, here’s the one about the Samsung phone, and here’s the other one about the Digital Exchange at Glorietta 3.

Some edits were done, firstly the “Den Of Geeks” title wasn’t my idea. My fault really, as I didn’t put a title on it when I submitted. I’m so terrible with thinking up titles, but I certainly didn’t like “Den Of Geeks”, so I’m surely gonna have to think up my own in the future.

The paragraph “But doesnt this increase the price?” is new, it was probably edited because I was using the term “premium”, the commercial term for when a manufacturer or reseller adds to the price of an item because of a special condition, like additional service or because the store is located in a better place or some such, in this case because Digital Exchange is a purely for-manufacturers geek area, as opposed to others which has resellers competing with other resellers as well as the manufacturer, making it unique.

This was actually something I would not have learned if it wasn’t mentioned in a last-second phone interview with their Managing Director Gary Ramirez, a very pleasing dude who helped a lot, so I’m glad I took the time to call him otherwise the article would have reeked of PR, which I noticed halfway into writing it.

Speaking of Gary, I really should’ve made better mention of how accomodating and cool he was, as opposed to the occasional difficult – to – interview types. Lots of times you get to meet the most tremendous egos in this line of work, a fact I’ve completely forgotten about since I’ve not written for this section for a very long time now. He however was completely upfront and relaxed, and we proceeded along doing our respective jobs painlessly and in a practical fashion.

Finally, a slight arrg where the last paragraph that starts with “As informative as websites are…”, there was a previous paragraph before it that mentioned how websites (manufacturer’s and reviewer’s) were the de facto previous way of learning details about a product, hence leading to my mentioning how in Dig Exchange they can ask the salespersons themselves and receive a fairly well-placed answer compared to a generic reseller’s. It being removed kind of took away that paragraph’s gist though they probably had to for space.

The Samsung Review however, was reprinted with no edits. Thing is, I’ve not seen the print version yet, only the inq7.net versions, so maybe the above don’t apply, not sure.
