I need to submit the Motorola ROKR review by today, but Saturday afternoon’s the only time I get to see Jill so I need to get this out this morning. It’ll also require an interview with Gary Ramirez, Managing Director of Digital Exchange at Glorietta 3, to get some quotes re the Motorola Store there, which is the only one in the country. At this very moment, he’s waiting for me to call.
SO WHAT BETTER TIME THAN NOW FOR ME TO UPDATE MY BLOG RIGHT?
Seriously, I’ll need this to warm up, so It’s not as useless and lazy as you might think. Ha!
First page:
An attempt to update over the web:
Everything okay so far:
You can set up a profile, indicating you can do this for multiple users:
Some cool dude shows up, asking how you want to be connected:
I chose USB, so it sets up:
Here we go:
Of course, Windows doesn’t like anything Bill hasn’t approved of previously. After pressing “continue anyway”, it pops up around 3x after, meaning it’s more than one file.
More of the same:
Eventually the Phonetools app finishes installing, and this shows up at your desktop:
using it, you can SMS from your desktop.
Not yet finished:
With this software, you can do all sorts of personalization on your ROKR, by making your own videos, MMS, Ringtones, and such.
Here’s the Phonebook software that synchs with by Default, and does so by automatically looking for the default “outlook.pst” file. I notice it didn’t even ask whether you wanted it to do that. Fortunately I hardly use Outlook, so there’s nothing there.
Ok now it’s time to synch with iTunes. Cool girl comes out to provide some visuals (of herself) to help me out.
Then BAM! it doesn’t wanna synch with the included 256mb. TransFlash memory card.
I try this several times. Even come up with a difficult error, making it impossible to remove the phone from the USB port without pissing it off.
And then it hit me. What if I format it first? I did, and finally:
Badabing Badaboom!
I downloaded all the Podcasts from the recent Microwarehouse Podcast event earlier
And finally downloaded them onto my phone. Took approximately 30 or so minutes.
That’s it! Now, after this, I’ll get back to my article, starting with the interview. Then, with the fully loaded ROKR (or at least 160mb full), I’m off to a movie later, then Laguna for the long weekend, and a chance to listen and later review them podcasts for another post. Have a nice weekend y’all!.

mwah!
Just got my new rokr 2 weeks ago.. and dont have any motorola cd and only ITunes from apple… when i ask the salesperson, he said that only ITunes software is included..where and how can i get the Mobile Phone Tools… tnx.. anyway i bought my rokr in megamall at memo express… tnx..
during the time i was reviewing the rokr, i also had the motorola e680i (the linux pda), so sorry Bryan I may have mixed the contents of the two up. If you really wanna be sure though, go to the Motorola Store at Digital Exchange glorietta 4, the only ‘real’ Motorola store, and ask if it’s included in the box. If not, you can probably ask for a copy of the cd. hope this helps.
yeah nga pala i have the motorola store at digital exchange number: 7528835.
