The Amoi Blue speaks “Cheap” from the moment you open the box, take out the contents, ditch the manual (which is all in Chinese so you’ve no choice but to ditch it), and use it.
Feature set is standard. It’s among the first with a Intel Core Duo processor, offers presentable graphics and gigabit LAN, but I won’t waste time in saying my first and lasting impression: it feels, (and therefore is) – cheap.
My old phone has been wanting to be put to pasture for almost a year now, and cheapskate (I prefer to call it ‘practical’) man that I am, I’ve been holding off on buying one for just as long.
Well, there’re other reasons actually. And they’re also the reason why I’m using a five year old+ phone. I’ll try to list them down:
I think the Acer 3242WXMi now has some competition after I took this one out of the box last night. At this very moment, it’s sitting on the desk running on batteries, with all the screensavers and power saving options turned off so I could time how long it takes till it dies.
Taking a quick break right now from reviewing the gadgets to post my first notes about the Acer Travelmate 3242WXMi, the first model I’ve tried.
I’m going out today, but I’m not bringing this one with me. Pity, since with specs like these it’s hard not to think ‘dream machine’.

(or at least thats what I told my dad)
