Goodbye Sleep

First it’s the Playoffs, leading to the Finals. Then in a few days from now *gasp* ROLAND GARROS.

Federer is gonna try again and Nadal will have something to say about that. But the big story is Henin’s early retirement, which kinda pulls the rug out of Sharapova’s bid. A pity since she’s looking stronger than ever.

Ahh Sharapova. Wait, what was it I was talking about?

Carlos Celdran Is One Of My Idols

I’ve never met him, I’m one of those losers who say ‘oh let’s join one of his tours!‘, and doesn’t do anything about it, and I’m occasionally shocked at the things he does.

But to those who want to make a change in this world, you can’t go wrong in finding inspiration at the ostentatious, silly looking man in the top hat who, crazily enough, finds beauty in the Philippines. What an out of this world opinion, right? I mean, isn’t the logical thing to get the hell out of here?

And so to you Carlos, whose tour I wanna join one day but probably won’t do anything about (being a loser), here’s my little post on my blog that serves to say how much I admire you, and people like you, who work against the literal tide of humanity making a beeline for the exit.

On Getting Press and What To Do With It

At this very moment, my picture has come out on several newspapers in an advertorial by Lipton for their Milk Tea, featuring an event I attended a few weeks ago. Hence I’ve been called and texted by friends re this phenomenon.

This bothers me obviously, because now my extreme handsomeness and rugged muscularity is all over the world to see. Sigh. As if I have enough problems with the pap.

But seriously folks, this is exactly what I didn’t wanna happen, especially given I represented Kikay Exchange. It was a workday and so I went on Jill’s behalf, then bang, I got my ugly mug taken in the middle of sipping the stuff (which is delicious btw – no I’m not obligated to say that).

Our Interview No Show

If it weren’t for Dong and My Dearest Cuz’s wonderful wedding yesterday (I was Best Man), I’d not have easily forgotten my disappointment about our TV no – show interview on Wednesday night.

Well, here’s what happened.

interview

About 3 weeks ago Jill and I were interviewed by QTV‘s Fit and Fab, a beauty – wellness – fashion tv magazine type show hosted by Theresa Licaros and Maggie Wilson (no they didn’t do the interviewing). Topic was primarily the Kikay Shop for an online shopping segment.

My First Speaking Engagement *Changed Sked

Today I received below email. I actually said no the first time I was asked, being allergic to making presentations (I’ve had enough of that in previous jobs!). But I guess I’m too much of a sucker for a good compliment:

We’re hoping that you could do a 30-minute to an hour talk about blogging as a business venture. I would have chosen from our blogger-attendees during the 88DB Bloggers Night last month but I deemed that your Exchange sites are more successful than other blog sites. Since it is a short talk, I think you would be able to come up with a minimal presentation. A projector will be provided.

Man they sure know how to get a guy’s attention. But then they said this:

Of Lousy Domain Registrars and Good Workouts

The million fans of this blog (less 999,997) may have wondered where it went when this domain lapsed a few days ago. Credit (or debit?) my brilliant domain registrar for this oversight, as he failed to contact me beforehand – whereas SOP for registrars would be to contact you 3 months before.

Not only that, he doesn’t even apologize, merely replying after I texted him about it that it’s been relisted and it’ll be back in a few days. Yesterday he then texted to remind me of payment, after which I said ‘sure, just put me in your calendar (so it wont happen again) ok?’, to which I got no reply. EXCELLENT service right there, don’t you think? Especially considering I sent a fair share of business his way when I was still in the web design business. I’m just glad this is just a personal blog and not a critical service like the Exchanges. If I were still hosted at his service (he was my first host), I probably would’ve made a personal appearance to wherever he is in Laguna.

I Accidentally Deleted BallEx Today

But got it up from a day old sql backup. I posted this morning but I managed to retrieve that as well by being subscribed to my own RSS feed, so it was ‘backed up’ more or less.

Can I just say, WHEEEEWWWWWWW!

What I was working on needed a new db installed and I foolishly created one that was too similarly named to ballex’s DB. I made a few mistakes installing it so I decided to scratch it and start over by deleting the DB and – guess what – I deleted ballex’s instead. I definitely heard an audible gasp for air when I realized what I did.

Got Super Sick But Now I’m Ok Again

I decided to wash my bedsheets a few days ago, substituting an old ratty one for the night. BIG mistake. My allergies flared up which quickly worsened into whatever horrible sinus related ailment and before I knew it, everything ached, I couldn’t even walk and essentially I became a vegetable.

And due to the fact I hadn’t gotten sick for the longest time I didn’t recognize it for what it was, and tried to work against it. Result? The 2nd day I was even worse off, and was even more useless, with even more pain everywhere.

When I Grow / Grew Up, I Want / Always Wanted To Be Iron Man

I am about to give Iron Man the highest possible rating I possibly can. And here it is: Iron Man brings me back to when I was 9.

For isn’t that what every little kid wanted to be? Tinkering with toys in a well lit, well equipped workroom, dreaming fantastic dreams, building fantastic things?

Getting My Programming Ducks In A Row

I know my previous post has probably revealed more about me than I’m usually comfortable writing about, but I took the time to let it sink in and have decided its gonna stay as is. I’ve always thought the way to grow was to take yourself out of your comfort zone, and by golly mission accomplished I think.

At any rate, I was trying to concentrate on a PBA game (Red Bull v Coca Cola, score is 51-56 respectively, 5 mins. left in the 3rd), when I decided to pick up my old trusty laptop and blog. I’ve been a fairly productive blogger today, making scheduled posts for ballex and one each for the two other sites.

I enjoy scheduling up posts, as it makes me feel like my ducks are in a row, one of my most oft used phrases these past few weeks, basically it gets right pat down exactly how I feel when I actually get to accomplish things. Jill and I have even started naming our ducks (much like the way we name our cameras and cellphones and other things). For example, paying bills are ‘Bill Ducks’, and trips to the bank are ‘Bank Ducks’. Yes I know. It boggles the mind how creative we can be.
